A few things before you begin.
How is matcha different from loose-leaf tea?
Matcha is powdered green tea that you whisk into water. Loose-leaf tea is steeped in water, then the leaves are strained out before you drink.
What equipment do I need?
For the method above, use a bowl and bamboo whisk. A fine-mesh strainer helps break up clumps, and a scale helps you measure the powder. You can keep the setup simple.
See preparation toolsHow should I store my matcha?
Keep it in a tightly sealed, opaque container, away from heat, direct sunlight, moisture, and strong smells. Follow the storage instructions on your package.
